You will cut the Ishikawa-grown aromatic Kuromoji wood yourself and place it into a distiller. Spend a comfortable time in your own way, surrounded by the natural scent of Kuromoji filling the room. What is Kuromoji, anyway?
Kuromoji is an aromatic wood native to Japan and grows throughout the country. It is a shrub of the Lauraceae family, used for high-quality confectionery toothpicks, and has long been loved by people working in the mountains and hikers for its pleasant scent that heals fatigue. Also, due to the flexibility of its branches, it is used as a material for traditional snowshoes (wa-kanjiki). The main component of the Kuromoji scent is 'linalool,' which is said to relieve tension and anxiety, calm the mind, and help you relax. Although it is a wood, it has a floral, sweet, and refreshing scent that is elegant and gorgeous, loved by everyone. We finely chop this Kuromoji and put it into a distiller for steam distillation. Please fully enjoy the scent of Kuromoji. As part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiative, our friends at TABITAIKEN go into the forest and, while maintaining trails and work paths, cut overgrown branches to utilize the gifts of the forest. We also share how to enjoy walking in the forest and the joy of forest maintenance work. Please feel the message from the forest and the plants.

Question 1: In addition to the distillation experience, you can also participate in the following activities within the allotted time, depending on your preference: ① making sweet toothpicks from Kuromoji wood, ② crafts using Kuromoji twigs, ③ relaxation with a music box (74-note, made by RUEGE), or ④ simple stretching. If you wish to participate in a craft activity, please let us know when you register so that we can prepare the materials.
Question 2: We will provide drinks and snacks. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dislikes.

Important notes regarding course participation:

• We will implement infection control measures. We will conduct a health check and temperature check before the event. • Drinks and snacks will be provided.
