Please note that it takes about 1-2 weeks for the lacquer to dry, so please let it dry thoroughly at home before use. 【Important Notes & Risks of Urushi (Lacquer)】 This plan uses authentic lacquer. To ensure a safe experience, please check the following points: 1. Skin irritation (Urushi dermatitis) Direct contact with lacquer may cause itching, redness, or rashes on the skin a few days later. Depending on your constitution or physical condition on the day, you may experience a reaction even without direct contact. 2. Clothing and belongings Lacquer cannot be removed if it gets on clothes or bags. Please come in clothes you do not mind getting dirty just in case (aprons and gloves will be provided). 3. Safety requests Please be sure to wear the provided gloves and aprons and avoid touching the lacquer with your bare hands. If lacquer accidentally touches your skin, do not rub it; please inform the staff immediately. *If you have extremely sensitive skin or a history of lacquer allergies, please consider your participation carefully. *We cannot provide compensation for medical expenses in the unlikely event that symptoms such as rashes occur. *You will be asked to sign a consent form before the experience on the day (participation is not possible without a signature).
- Enjoy a close-up look at a Yamanaka lacquerware workshop
- Lacquerware workshops are usually divided into specialized tasks, so it is rare to see various processes in one place. However, here at Kobo Jokan, you can see the entire process, from wood turning to lacquer coating and several stages of Makie. It is a very rare workshop where you can watch artisans at work up close. Staff will also explain each process, helping you understand lacquerware in an easy-to-grasp way.
- Easily experience being a Makie artisan
- Anyone can easily use stamps to create their own original work. You can simulate the experience of a Makie artisan by using colorful powders. There is a risk of skin irritation from lacquer. If you feel unwell, please inform the staff immediately. We will explain the precautions in advance, so please participate only after you have understood them. *The finished work can be taken home on the day. *In rare cases, symptoms such as itching may occur. In such cases, we will ask you to refrain from the experience.
You can watch the artisans at work up close through the glass.

- 10:30Reception and changing into work clothes. We will explain the flow of today's experience and the risks of lacquer irritation, and you will change into work clothes for preparation. (5 minutes)
- 10:40Tour of the lacquerware process and workshop. Observe each process of the workshop through the glass. Staff will provide an easy-to-understand explanation of the history of Yamanaka Lacquerware and each process. (10 minutes)
- 10:45Stamp Makie experience. Choose your favorite lacquerware (small plate, coaster, bookmark, etc.) and experience the artisan's craft of sprinkling colorful powders.

- Cancellations 2 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
- Cancellation is not allowed between 0–1 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
- Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
