What You Can Expect

Choose your fan design (5 minutes). Choose from 2 types of frames and 8 types of Japanese paper. If you choose plain paper, you can design it as you like with colored pencils.
Paste the Japanese paper onto the fan frame (55 minutes). Use starch paste to apply the paper to the front, back, edges, and ears of the fan. Be careful not to break the frame or tear the paper.
Apply persimmon tannin to the entire fan and let it dry to complete (60 minutes)! The most distinctive feature of Kumi Shibu Uchiwa is the use of persimmon tannin. It is an excellent material that also has antiseptic, antifungal, and insect-repellent properties. Apply it carefully to finish with a calm and modern look.

Regarding cancellation of the event:

As this is an indoor experience, it will generally not be cancelled, but in the event of bad weather (typhoons, heavy rain, thunderstorms, etc.), it may be cancelled to ensure safety.

Please note the following when participating in this course:

・The fan-making experience takes 60 minutes, but an additional 60 minutes is required for drying. If you participate after 4:00 PM, please return after 9:30 AM on the next business day. ・There is no particular work to be done during the 60-minute drying time. Please enjoy visiting the hot springs, walking around the town, and shopping in the store.

Other important points to note:

Toilets: Please use the Fureai Hiroba, a one-minute walk away. Lockers: The experience space is spacious and there is space to store your belongings.
