To avoid delays for boarding and alighting, if the trip has already stopped at more than 3 stations, we will assess whether to continue to other locations. However, during special holidays, at least 2 people are required to board from other counties and cities. We apologize for any inconvenience!

The festival is renowned for its expansive, vibrant floral landscapes, featuring various flower species such as cosmos, sunflowers, and lavenders arranged in intricate patterns. A key highlight is the annual "International Flower Carpet" display, a massive, artistically designed carpet made entirely of living flowers, often depicting themes relevant to local culture or global events. Visitors can also enjoy various art installations, themed gardens, and agricultural product exhibitions throughout the festival grounds, creating a rich visual and sensory experience.
The Xinshe Flower Sea and International Flower Carpet Festival is held in the Xinshe District of Taichung City, Taiwan. The specific venue is typically around the Xinshe Seed and Seedling Research and Extension Station, situated in the scenic, mountainous region of Xinshe. This location offers a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills and nature, enhancing the overall festival atmosphere.
From Taichung City, visitors can take public buses such as routes connecting from Taichung Railway Station or THSR Taichung Station directly to the Xinshe area. For greater convenience, especially during peak festival times, many opt for taxis, ride-sharing services, or pre-arranged tour buses. These tours often provide direct transportation from central Taichung to the festival grounds, simplifying travel logistics.
Yes, the Xinshe District offers a variety of accommodation options, primarily charming guesthouses (minshu) and boutique B&Bs. Many of these accommodations are nestled in the scenic countryside, providing tranquil retreats with views of the surrounding mountains and sometimes even private gardens. It is advisable to book in advance, particularly during the festival period, as they tend to fill up quickly due to high demand.
Visitors to the Xinshe Flower Sea can expect to see vast fields bursting with color from various flower species, including waves of cosmos, cheerful sunflowers, fragrant lavender, and delicate snapdragons. The central attraction is often the meticulously designed "flower carpet," which features large-scale, intricate patterns and imagery created using different colored flowers. Additionally, there are usually themed exhibition areas showcasing specific plant varieties, innovative gardening techniques, and interactive floral art installations.
For getting around Taichung, public buses are a convenient and affordable option, with routes covering most of the city and surrounding areas, including connections to Xinshe. Taxis and ride-sharing apps are readily available for direct and quicker journeys. Renting a car or scooter provides the most flexibility for exploring at your own pace, especially for destinations like Xinshe Flower Sea which are a bit further from the city center. Organized tours are also popular for hassle-free transportation to specific attractions.
Taichung currently operates a Green Line MRT system, which primarily serves the urban core, connecting areas like Beitun, Wenxin, and Wuri (THSR Taichung Station). However, the MRT does not extend directly to the Xinshe District where the Flower Sea festival is located. To reach Xinshe, visitors would typically need to take the MRT to a central Taichung station and then transfer to a local bus, taxi, or a pre-booked tour service.
The most common and convenient payment methods for public buses in Taichung are contactless smart cards such as EasyCard and iPASS. These cards can be purchased and topped up at convenience stores and MRT stations. Cash payment is also accepted, but passengers need to prepare the exact fare as bus drivers typically do not provide change. Using a smart card often allows for discounted fares or free transfers within a certain period.
