Welcome to Kyoto! Please do not miss the annual Miyama limited illumination event!

During this season, venture deep into the traditional secret spot of Miyama to explore the Kitayama-style folk houses of Miyama-cho. The architecture is traditional and beautiful, featuring a 'kirizuma-zukuri' (gabled roof) upper section and a 'yosemune-zukuri' (hipped roof) lower section, known as 'irimoya-zukuri'. It was selected as a Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 1993. Compared to the thatched village of Shirakawa-go, it offers a sense of being in an otherworldly paradise. Looking across the entire area, the quiet, silent village and the rows of thatched-roof houses make it feel as if you have returned to the Edo period of ancient Japan.

The night scenery during the illumination is even more beautiful. After the snow falls, the soft lights reflecting off the pure white snow create a dreamlike, picturesque scene. This unique winter charm will surely leave you wanting to stay. We hope you can experience this rare tranquility and beauty during this special season and leave with wonderful memories!

In addition, you will head to 【Amanohashidate】, one of the Three Views of Japan, and ascend to the observation deck to gaze at the magnificent scenery. The blue sea and white snow weave together to create a stunning, winter-only masterpiece. You will also visit the 【Ine Boat Houses】, known as the Venice of Japan, and take the 【Ine Bay Cruise】 to admire the century-old boat houses built facing the sea from the water, feeling the unique charm of this quiet fishing village.

Travel in a comfortable bus with no need for transfers, allowing you to easily enjoy the most iconic winter scenery of northern Kyoto and see the romance of the snow country in one day!

Magnificent winter scenery of Amanohashidate, with snow-covered hills, sunbeams piercing through clouds onto the sea, and a slender sandbar stretching across the azure waters, embodying the mysterious and ethereal beauty of 'Japan's Three Scenic Views'.

Amanohashidate, hailed as one of the "Three Views of Japan," is a natural sandbar stretching approximately 3.6 kilometers, lying across the sea like a bridge in the sky. Amanohashidate is particularly enchanting in winter—the white sandbar and pine forests are covered in a thin layer of snow, resembling a silver ribbon floating between the blue sea and the white snow.

Overlooking Amanohashidate from a chairlift, the mountains display colorful hues of late autumn and early winter, with the winding sandbar and azure bay forming the grandeur of 'Japan's Three Scenic Views', framed by the unique perspective of the chairlift lines.

Take the cable car to the observation deck and overlook Amanohashidate under a snow-covered landscape. The sea and sky blend seamlessly, and the pine forests are picturesque—a romantic and unique winter spectacle. The cool sea breeze and tranquil atmosphere intertwine, allowing you to forget the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in the unique serenity of winter in Japan.

Evening view of Ine Funaya boathouses, with traditional wooden houses built along the coast, warm lights reflecting on the calm sea, and houses on the hillside vaguely visible, showcasing the bay's tranquility and lively atmosphere.

Ine Town, located in northern Kyoto Prefecture, is known as the "Venice of Japan." Its most distinctive feature is the boathouses (funaya) built along the coastline. These boathouses are characterized by their ground floor, which faces directly into the bay and serves as a parking area for small boats—essentially a "garage on the sea." The second floor is used as living space. Currently, there are approximately 230 boathouses in Ine Town, neatly arranged along the arc-shaped coastline of Ine Bay, creating a unique maritime landscape. The history of the boathouses dates back to the Edo period, and fishermen still live and work here today. Due to this unique architectural style, the Ine boathouses have been designated as an "Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings" in Japan.

An aerial view of Ine Funaya boathouse village, with traditional wooden houses lining the winding coastline, surrounded by lush green forests, and cruise ships sailing through the azure waters, showcasing a unique bay landscape.

Take a cruise on Ine Bay to tour the entire bay area from different angles, admiring the unique landscape of neatly arranged boathouses. Seagulls often fly alongside the boat, creating a captivating seaside village scene under the cool winter sun. Through the mist-shrouded bay shore, you can feel the tranquility of time flowing by and glimpse the wisdom of generations of fishermen along the Sea of Japan coast. In winter, Ine Bay lacks the hustle and bustle of summer tourists, gaining a beauty that seems frozen in time. Whether you are a photography enthusiast, a couple, or a traveler seeking to experience "authentic Japanese scenery," you can find peace and inspiration here.
