Product Info

On this tour, you will have the special opportunity to enter mountains that are usually closed to the public. You will be able to visit the 'hidoko' (fire beds) and listen to explanations from relevant personnel with an English-speaking guide. After the experience at each mountain, you will enjoy a meal (provided by Kyoto Cuisine Kinobu) at a location where you can view the Daimonji Okuribi, deepening your understanding as you listen to explanations about its history and significance.

(General public access to the 'Daimonji' on Higashiyama Nyoigatake is prohibited from 15:00 on the day before the Kyoto Gozan Okuribi until the day of the event. Furthermore, public access to the other four mountains is prohibited throughout the year: 'Myo' and 'Ho' on Matsugasaki Nishiyama and Higashiyama in Sakyo Ward, 'Funagata' on Myokenzan in Nishigamo, Kita Ward, 'Hidari Daimonji' on Kitayama Daimonjiyama in Kita Ward, and 'Torigata' on Mandarasan in Saga Toriimoto, Ukyo Ward.)

  • If mountain access is prohibited due to severe weather that would disrupt the itinerary, the daytime portion of the tour will be changed to a Goshuin (temple seal) collection tour. 
  • Please note that no compensation will be provided for changes resulting from the cancellation of mountain access. Even if part of the itinerary is changed, the evening program (dinner) will remain unchanged.
  •  If you choose to cancel your booking due to the change to the Goshuin collection tour, cancellation fees will apply in accordance with our cancellation policy.
  • Please note that the Okuribi viewing is limited to the Daimonji character only. You will not be able to view all five mountains.

  • Please wear clothes suitable for hiking (long pants). Short sleeves are acceptable for the top. Please wear comfortable shoes such as trekking shoes (sandals are not allowed). If you wear sneakers, we recommend that they have anti-slip soles. If you are wearing clothes that are not suitable for hiking, you may be refused entry.

  • You can only climb one mountain at a time, and you cannot specify which one.

  • Departure times vary depending on the mountain you are climbing. Please check your confirmation document for the final itinerary and mountain name.

  • Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited except at dinner time. Please prepare your own water supply.

  • We recommend that you take out insurance to cover injuries incurred while climbing the mountains. (Insurance is not included in this trip.)

  • If rain makes it impossible to enter the mountain, the itinerary will be changed to a stamp-gathering tour that visits all five mountain meeting places.

  • The guide only speaks Japanese or English.

  • All photos are for illustrative purposes only.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 11 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 8 to 10 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
  • For cancellations made 2 to 7 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
  • For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 40% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
