This trip to Northern Kyushu was incredibly fulfilling, with each attraction offering a unique surprise! At Karato Market, the weekend crowds were immense, and the air was filled with the aroma of seafood. We ordered fresh sushi, scallops, and sea urchin, enjoying our meal while gazing at the sea and feeling the sea breeze. The lively atmosphere combined with the relaxed, local Japanese vibe made us truly appreciate the essence of travel. Afterwards, we visited Motonosumi Shrine, where a row of bright red torii gates stretched along the coast, contrasting beautifully with the incredibly blue Sea of Japan – a scene straight out of an anime. The sound of the waves and the gentle breeze instantly soothed all our worries. While we missed the million-dollar night view at Mount Sarakura due to the longer summer days, the experience of riding the cable car and gazing at the city from the summit, along with the refreshing breeze, offered a welcome escape from the daily hustle and bustle. This slightly disappointing experience became a cherished memory and a reason to return. Finally, a special thank you to our amazing tour guide, Ada, whom we were fortunate to have met on two consecutive day trips! She not only managed the time perfectly but also thoughtfully shared food recommendations and photo tips. Thanks to her warm and professional guidance and meticulous care, the trip was filled with peace of mind and laughter, leaving behind the most beautiful memories of Kitakyushu.
Just finished a 5-day, 4-night trip to Kyushu, and this time I used the "Kyushu FunPASS All-Area 3-in-1" pass. The experience was truly excellent value for money! If you're planning a trip to Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, Kumamoto, or Beppu, this e-passport is definitely worth getting. What is the Kyushu FunPASS 3-in-1? Simply put, it's an e-travel pass that can be used through a mobile app. The 3-in-1 plan includes: two must-see attractions, one selected attraction, plus various shopping coupons. It covers popular areas such as Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, Kumamoto, and Oita (Beppu), allowing you to book your trip to multiple prefectures with one ticket. Why recommend the 3-in-1? Five major advantages: 1. Incredibly cost-effective, excellent value! My adult ticket cost about NT$680, and I chose two must-see attractions: "Fukuoka Tower" and "Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum," plus "teamLab Forest Fukuoka" as a selected attraction. These three items alone added up to over NT$800, making it a complete return on investment! Not to mention shopping discounts aren't even included. One user shared: "With coupons and additional discounts, it's a great deal to enjoy Kyushu," and "High value for money." 2. Super convenient e-tickets, skip the lines and enter directly. Previously, you had to spend time queuing to buy tickets at attractions. Now, just download the app on your phone, bind your serial number, and show the QR code at the venue to scan and enter. At teamLab Forest Fukuoka, I simply showed the QR code to the staff and entered, without having to queue for tickets at all. Users unanimously praised: "Queue-free ticket purchase is super easy," and "Buy and use immediately, very convenient." 3. Super flexible itinerary, no worries about last-minute changes. This is super friendly to independent travelers! You can activate the card within one year of purchase and use it within 14 days of activation. Even better, as long as you haven't booked or used any attractions, you can change the itinerary dates yourself in the app. Some bloggers shared that they bought fixed-date tickets in the past, only to lose thousands of dollars when changing their itinerary, but FunPASS doesn't have this problem at all. 4. Diverse Attractions, Suitable for Families and Couples: The 3-in-1 plan includes over 30 attractions, with popular options including: • Must-Visit Attractions (Choose 2): Fukuoka Tower, Kokura Castle, Moji Port Retro Observatory, Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum, Kanmon Strait Museum, Kumamoto Yatai Village (redeemable for a drink), etc. • Selected Attractions (Choose 1): teamLab Forest Fukuoka, Marine World Uminakamichi Aquarium, Beppu Hell Hot Spring Tour, Sadaharu Oh Baseball Museum, Yanagawa Cruise, etc. Whether you want to enjoy night views, visit an aquarium, soak in hot springs, or experience cultural attractions, you can find suitable options.
Although many of the vines had already withered by the time we arrived at the Hanoi Vine Garden (we arrived the day before closing), thanks to the detailed guidance of our guide, Mo Mo, we were able to take some beautiful photos even in crowded areas… The outlet tour was fantastic, but unfortunately, it was too short! The architecture at Moji Port is beautiful, and our guide was incredibly helpful in taking photos for everyone. Thank you so much! This was the gentlest, most lovely, and most responsible guide I've encountered on this trip since joining KKday. Thank you, Mo Mo, for making this a wonderful journey for everyone.
Our tour guide, Ms. Xu, was kind and responsible. The scenery along the way was beautiful, and the rest stops were well-organized with limited time for restroom breaks. On both occasions, other group members were late boarding, so the whole group had to wait.
The first part of the itinerary involves taking a ferry from Moji Port to Karato Market. It happened to be Friday, and the market had many fresh sushi options, which could be taken away and enjoyed on the waterfront. Tickets for the Kawachi Wisteria Garden vary depending on the blooming season; payment is made directly to the tour leader on the day of the visit. Admission to Kokura Castle and its gardens is also paid on the spot. If you've visited other famous Japanese castles, you can skip this part and visit the nearby shopping center instead. This tour is definitely worth taking just to see the blooming wisteria.
