Driver/Guide: Yan Lei. The day before the trip, he kindly reminded us of the meeting time/location and suggested what to wear. His explanations during the journey were very thorough, avoiding a rushed pace and allowing us to immerse ourselves in the Danjo Garan, Kongōbu-ji Temple, and Okunoin Temple; very quiet and peaceful places with incredibly blue skies. We focused on our breathing, quietly appreciating the atmosphere with our families, feeling the gentle breeze and the rustling of grass. Finally, we arrived at Origin Shrine, a truly wonderful ending.

Just got back from a summer retreat at Mount Koya and wanted to share my experience using the electronic "Mount Koya 2-Day Pass". Initially, I was confused as to why I could only buy one pass per transaction. After trying it out, I understood – the system is very secure: each pass generates a unique link, requiring login and an email verification code to display the QR code. If you're buying for family, remember to allow time for each person to set it up on their phone. Using it was very smooth; the bus drivers I met along the way were all very familiar with the electronic pass verification process. Mount Koya is quite large, and while some attractions can be reached on foot, I strongly recommend taking the bus as soon as you exit the cable car station. There's a considerable distance from the cable car station to the first attraction, involving a winding road that requires a bus ride. It's summer now, and the temperature on the mountain is much cooler than on the plains. The mountains are covered in soothing greenery, so I highly recommend using this voucher to plan a comfortable summer getaway!
