This was my first visit to the Hell Hot Spring Museum. Although it's not large, the design is excellent, and it's worth a visit before exploring the various hell hot springs. The package ticket includes the Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) and Oniishi Bozu Jigoku (Demon Stone Monk Hell), which are located near the museum and are quite representative. I highly recommend this itinerary if you don't have much time in Beppu.

Although it drizzled on the day of departure, it didn't dampen our spirits for the trip. Lake Kinrin in Yufuin had a unique charm even on a cloudy day, and we were lucky enough to have the Beppu Ropeway to our destination all to ourselves. Our tour leader, Yoshitani, was very dedicated and responsible, and he also recommended some great value restaurants and the fantastic Lopia supermarket, making for a very enjoyable day.
