[About Kamikochi] You can get off at any of the three locations: Taisho Pond, in front of the Imperial Hotel, or the bus terminal, and explore the area. *This does not apply if the walking trails are closed due to weather or other reasons.
This course does not take you to Myojin Pond. It is a mini hike on your own between Taisho Pond and Kappa Bridge.
Road closures may occur due to rainfall restrictions. In such cases, we will guide you to an alternative sightseeing spot, but please note that no refunds will be given.
If the tour falls on a day when tourist buses are restricted, you may have to transfer to a local bus for some sections.
For domestic trips departing on or after May 1, 2025, any changes to meal contents due to food allergies, religious reasons, etc. will incur a fee of 1,500 yen per meal, and any difference in price will be charged at the actual cost. As a general rule, please notify us at least 14 days before your departure date. For changes after that, please contact us.
If you are traveling with an infant aged 3-5, they will not be counted in the number of people in the room type. (For example, if you are traveling with "2 adults and 1 infant aged 3-5," please select a room for 2 people, and if you are traveling with "2 adults, 1 child, and 1 infant aged 3-5," please select a room for 3 people.)
For safety reasons, we will provide bus seats for infants aged 3 to 5, and an additional fee will be charged. However, train seats, meals during the trip, and bedding at the accommodations will not be provided. If you wish to travel with an infant, please make a reservation at the [Child] fare.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations 21 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
- For cancellations made 8 to 20 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
- For cancellations made 2 to 7 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
- For cancellations made 1 to 1 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 40% will apply
- Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
- Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. FAQ
Shirakawa-go offers unique charm in every season. In winter (around January to February), it's covered in snow, creating a dreamlike landscape that attracts many visitors. Spring (April to May) allows you to enjoy fresh greenery and cherry blossoms, while autumn (October to November) is adorned with beautiful fall foliage. You can experience its enchanting allure throughout the year.
March is a transitional period between winter and spring in Shirakawa-go. You might still have a chance to see snow in early March, especially in higher altitudes. However, as temperatures gradually rise, the snow begins to melt. By the end of March, the chances of seeing extensive snowscapes decrease. It's recommended to check the local weather forecast before your trip to confirm the conditions.
It's recommended to allocate at least half a day to a full day for your visit to Shirakawa-go. You can wander through the village, visit key Gassho-style houses like Kanda House and Nagase House, and head to the Shiroyama Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the village. If you have ample time, you can also visit the Myozenji Museum to learn more about the local way of life and culture.
Winter in the Hida Takayama region usually begins with snowfall in late November or early December and lasts until around March of the following year. January and February are typically the months with the heaviest snowfall, covering the entire city in white and showcasing a unique Japanese winter charm.
In Hida Takayama, you can stroll through the well-preserved 'Sanmachi Suji' historic streets, experiencing the atmosphere of the Edo period and sampling local delicacies. In the morning, you can visit the Miyagawa Morning Market or Jinya-mae Morning Market. Additionally, the Takayama Jinya and Hida Folk Village (Hida no Sato) are must-visit attractions. Exploring this ancient town on foot is recommended to fully immerse yourself in its charm.
The most convenient way to reach Hida Takayama from major Japanese cities is by taking the JR Limited Express 'Hida' from Nagoya. This train goes directly to Hida Takayama Station and the journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, offering scenic views of the natural landscape along the way. This itinerary includes the JR Limited Express for a smoother travel experience.
When hiking in Kamikochi, please be mindful of its opening season (typically from mid-April to mid-November each year). It's advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the mountain's unpredictable weather. Also, please respect the natural environment by not feeding wild animals and taking your trash with you, to help preserve Kamikochi's pristine ecosystem.
Both Shirakawa-go and Hida Takayama are located in Gifu Prefecture in the Chubu region of Japan. Both areas are surrounded by the majestic Hida Mountains and are excellent places to experience traditional Japanese culture and natural beauty.
