Keelung Islet, also known as Keelung Island or historically as Jilong Islet, is an uninhabited island located in the East China Sea, northeast of Keelung. Administratively part of the Zhongzheng District of Keelung City, it is the most prominent natural landmark in northern Taiwan and the Keelung/North Coast region. It serves as a navigational beacon for ships entering and leaving Keelung Port and is a constant companion to the sunrise and sunset of Keelung. The straight-line distance between Keelung Islet and Heping Island is approximately 3.3 km, and it is about 4 km from Keelung Port.
The Keelung Islet pier was damaged by Typhoon Soulik in 2013. Although the Keelung City Government completed repairs in August 2014, the outer circulation of another typhoon in October of the same year caused the pier to break again, with tetrapods blocking the channel. For safety reasons, the pier was closed and landings were prohibited. Thanks to the Keelung City Government's efforts in securing repair funding from the central government in 2017, the relevant projects have been completed.
To allow more visitors to experience the beauty of this volcanic island beyond just viewing it from the sea, visitors can now land on Keelung Islet and explore via the wooden boardwalks. Climb up to the pavilion to admire the precious igneous geological landscape and observe the natural beauty of the island's native plants along the trails. The scenery changes depending on your vantage point on the island and shifts with the weather, revealing multiple layers of beauty. On clear days, the grandeur of the volcanic island is visible, while at sunrise and dusk, the hazy silhouette of Keelung Islet appears even more mysterious. Please bring your ID card, health insurance card, or passport for check-in and Coast Guard inspection. Out of respect for other passengers, the boat will not wait for late arrivals. Please be mindful of the check-in time.
The Keelung Islet tour requires a minimum of 15 people to depart. The actual departure time may be adjusted based on daily bookings, and we will notify you by phone the day before.
If the boat trip needs to be canceled due to poor sea conditions or failure to meet the minimum group size, we will notify passengers one day in advance to reschedule or provide a full refund for the cancellation. The decision on whether to sail based on sea conditions is determined by the professional captain, depending on the forecasted wave height and wind direction. If it is raining but the waves are small, the boat will sail as scheduled, and the fleet will provide complimentary disposable raincoats. If it is sunny but the waves are high, the boat trip will be canceled.

The boat ride from Bisha Fishing Port to the Keelung Islet pier takes about 20 minutes. Please assess your physical condition to decide if you need motion sickness medication. We recommend getting enough sleep before the trip. If you are prone to seasickness, avoid spicy or greasy food before boarding and take motion sickness medication 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure. You can relieve seasickness by going to the outdoor deck for fresh air or lying down in the cabin.
All passengers must wear life jackets before departure and pass the Coast Guard inspection before sailing.
Please follow the crew's instructions during the voyage. Do not run or play on the deck to avoid falls, injuries, or falling overboard.
