If you plan to go to Dadaocheng Wharf, you can walk along Min Sheng West Road from Beimen Station for about 15-20 minutes, or take a bus from the vicinity of Dihua Street. There are diverse and convenient transportation options.
The Blue Highway boarding point at Dadaocheng Wharf is located within Yanping Riverside Park. We suggest taking the MRT to Beimen Station, Exit 3. After exiting, walk west along Zhengzhou Road, turn left at the intersection of Yanping North Road Section 1, and continue straight until you see the wharf entrance below the Huán Hér Guànsù Gōnglù (Riverside Expressway). The walk takes approximately 15-20 minutes, and you can enjoy the unique riverside atmosphere along the way.
Both Dadaocheng and Bangka (now Wanhua District) were important early ports and commercial centers in Taipei's development, closely connected by the Tamsui River transport. Bangka developed earlier and was Taipei's first street district. Dadaocheng, however, rapidly rose to prominence after the port opened during the late Qing Dynasty, becoming a hub for the trade of Taiwanese tea, fabrics, and other goods, attracting many foreign businesses. While their development periods and primary industries differed slightly, both were prosperous centers of commerce and trade at the time.
During the Dadaocheng Historical Sites Guided Half-Day Tour, you will follow a professional guide to explore several important historical sites. The tour will pass by former tea houses that witnessed the prosperity of the tea trade, historic buildings with Baroque-style architecture, and residences like the Chen Tian-lai former residence and the Li Lin-chiou former residence, which were once homes of local gentry. This will allow you to personally experience Dadaocheng's rich commercial and cultural memories.
The Dadaocheng area, with its distinctive historical streetscape and nostalgic ambiance, is a popular filming location for many film and television productions. For instance, the movie "Dadaocheng" uses this area as its primary setting, vividly portraying the prosperity of the 1920s. Additionally, numerous TV dramas and commercials have been filmed in its streets, alleys, and old teahouses, leveraging its rich architectural features and cultural heritage to create unique visual effects.
