The travel agency notified us of the itinerary in advance via email and WhatsApp. Our Chinese-speaking guide, Ah Qiang, was very professional and explained things very clearly. The scenery in Ninh Binh was truly beautiful. It's a highly recommended trip!
Compared to previous day trips to Halong Bay, the overnight stay on the boat provided more time and space for relaxation. The guide's explanations at Sung Sot Cave were enjoyable, and the time spent at Ti Top Island was well-timed. The food was delicious, but the portions were so large that no one seemed to be able to finish it. I felt they could have reduced the portions and improved the quality. My only concern was that while there was a water dispenser on board and we were allowed to bring our own drinks into the rooms, they were not allowed in the dining area, and water during mealtimes was charged. While the idea of free water during meals is perhaps unique to Japanese people, I was bothered by the fact that even if I just wanted a little hydration, I had to order a paid drink that I couldn't finish. Other guests asked if we had to buy water, so I'm sure there were others who felt the same way. The guide and staff were very friendly, and it was a fun cruise. Finally, although our itinerary required a local meeting, I appreciated the arrangement to arrange for transportation to and from our hotel in Hanoi for a one-way bus fare, the same as for the round-trip bus to Hanoi. It was a travel agency that could respond flexibly.
The experience of traveling on a luxury cruise ship was excellent, and the overall value for money was very high. I would definitely choose this experience again next time, even for an overnight luxury cruise. Ha Long Bay is truly breathtaking.
