Four-year-olds can enjoy many rides with a one-day pass, which is very cost-effective. The weather was a bit cool that day, and there weren't many people when we went in the morning. There were also plenty of seats in the restaurants.

Our family of four booked a tour. When the driver picked us up at our hotel in Taipei in the morning, he suggested, "It's still a bit early to go to Jiufen, so why don't we stop by the Cat Village on the way?" We encountered some traffic along the way, but arrived at the Cat Village in exactly one hour. We took pictures with the cute cats and enjoyed visiting the free coal mining museum. It was a fascinating spot not listed in guidebooks. Afterwards, we arrived in Jiufen in about 10 minutes by car and had about an hour and a half of free time to explore the town. There were few tourists in the morning, so we enjoyed Taiwanese tea at the famous A-Mei Tea House. The driver even sent us a message on LINE recommending some of Jiufen's famous local foods. We arrived back at Taipei Main Station in about 50 minutes from Jiufen. The tour ended in exactly four hours. We received kind and courteous service.

I recommend the Taipei Biennale; there are many interesting exhibits. Visiting on a weekday is less crowded and more relaxing.
