You can take the Rapid Amakusa ferry directly from Kumamoto. The ferry company is right across the street from where you get off. There are staff at the check-in counter who speak Chinese. I booked the 3 PM session, and the return trip was accompanied by a beautiful sunset. The indoor space during the voyage was comfortable, and you can simply go to the deck to watch the dolphins when it's time to go. There were so many dolphins, and they were incredibly close and lively. The captain even changed positions to ensure the dolphins could be seen from both sides of the boat. It was a fantastic experience and highly recommended!
Before setting off, I was a little worried after seeing negative reviews on the tour guide website, but after experiencing it with friends, I think it was quite good. Our guide, Mr. Yang, was very nice; he was the only one in the group who stood out from the others, making him easy to spot. He was very attentive, and the conversations were interesting. No one was late for any of the group meetings, and the overall process was smooth. Takachiho Gorge is just as beautiful as it looks in the photos and is definitely worth a visit. However, since it's in the mountains, people with mobility issues might want to consider it.
It's easy to use and convenient; you can take any bus from Fukuoka to Yufuin. It's great value and very easy to learn. If you don't understand, the bus driver will patiently teach you.
