The "Kyushu Enjoy Discount Pass" offers flexibility to choose 5 popular attractions within 7 days. If your main focus is on key sites like Kokura Castle, Mojiko Retro, and Shimabara Castle, we recommend allocating 5 to 7 days. This allows for a more relaxed pace to thoroughly experience the local history, culture, and special activities, while also factoring in travel time for a smoother journey.
The most convenient way to travel from Fukuoka city to Mojiko Retro and Kokura Castle is by JR train. You can take a limited express train from JR Hakata Station to JR Kokura Station, which takes about 40-50 minutes. Kokura Castle is within walking distance from Kokura Station. To reach Mojiko Retro, you can transfer to the JR Kagoshima Main Line at Kokura Station and travel to Mojiko Station, a journey of approximately 15 minutes.
The "Kyushu Enjoy Discount Pass" primarily offers discounts on attraction admissions and various bonus perks. It does not directly include public transportation within Fukuoka city, such as subways or buses. Travelers will need to purchase separate subway day passes, bus tickets, or use a transport IC card for getting around Fukuoka city. We recommend combining it with other suitable transport passes for optimal convenience.
For your first independent trip to Kyushu and if you plan to visit Yumemachi 3-chome Kan, it's recommended to focus your itinerary on the Northern Kyushu area. You can arrive in Fukuoka and use it as a base, utilizing the JR railway system to travel to areas like Mojiko Retro or Kokura. Yumemachi 3-chome Kan is usually located within the tourist area, so you can schedule it on the same day or adjacent days with nearby attractions such as Kokura Castle and the Mojiko Retro district to minimize travel time.
When budgeting for dining and shopping, it's advisable to allow for flexibility based on your personal spending habits. Utilizing bonus benefits like the "Hakata Meal Voucher" included with the "Kyushu Enjoy Discount Pass" can effectively save on some dining expenses, making your travel budget more flexible.
Forest Adventure facilities in Kyushu are often located in natural environments, and public transportation may not reach the entrance directly. It is recommended to first take a JR train or bus to the nearest town or station, and then transfer to a local bus, taxi, or use a rental car service. Renting a car offers the greatest flexibility and convenience, especially for those carrying equipment or traveling in groups.
During your independent trip to Kyushu, the Suica card, as a nationwide transportation IC card, is widely usable in major cities and on most JR lines, some private railways, and buses across the Kyushu region, including Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima. Using a Suica card eliminates the hassle of purchasing individual tickets each time, enhancing transportation convenience.
