Xianxi Township is located in the northwest of Changhua County, near the Taiwan Strait. In 1920, it was named 'Xianxi' because it was formerly part of Xianxi Bao. It is speculated that this area was once the activity range of the Adong Society of the Pazeh tribe of the Pingpu people in ancient times. Historical records indicate that during the Kangxi era, this area was a river channel north of the Dadu River estuary. Later, due to the flooding and diversion of the Dadu River in the 57th year of Kangxi (1718), the landscape changed.
