Leave the center of Paris and head towards Versailles, once a modest hunting lodge and later the dazzling court of Louis XIV, the “Sun King”. After meeting your driver near the Louvre, settle into your air-conditioned minivan and enjoy a comfortable drive of about one hour to the royal town of Versailles. Along the way, you’ll hear a brief introduction to the history of the palace, the kings who lived there and how Versailles became a symbol of absolute monarchy in France.
On arrival, skip the main ticket line thanks to your prebooked entrance. Your driver will provide your tickets and show you where to collect your audio guides. Then it’s time to discover the palace at your own pace. With the official audio guide, walk through the King’s Grand Apartments and the Queen’s Apartments, whose ceilings, gilded woodwork and paintings were designed to glorify the royal family. Continue into the Hall of Mirrors, the palace’s most iconic gallery, lined with large mirrors facing arched windows and opening onto the gardens.
After visiting the main rooms inside the château, head outdoors to explore the formal gardens designed by André Le Nôtre. From the terrace, enjoy a panoramic view of geometric flowerbeds, basins and avenues leading to the Grand Canal. You are free to wander along the alleys, discover hidden groves and take photos of the fountains and statues. From April to October, your ticket includes access to the Musical Fountains or Musical Gardens show on operating days, when the water features come to life to the sound of baroque music, recreating the spirit of royal celebrations.
Throughout your visit, you manage your own time: follow the full suggested route of the palace, focus on your favorite rooms or spend more time outside in the gardens, depending on the season and your interests. At the end of the visit, meet your driver at the agreed time for the return trip to Paris, where you’ll be dropped off at the original meeting point—having discovered one of France’s most impressive royal sites without the stress of public transport or complex planning.
