This 4-day, 3-night trip was very relaxing and enjoyable. Although it was November, the off-season, and the wind was strong, the weather was generally comfortable and pleasant. Plus, the Penghu government's tourism subsidy for off-season travel, along with a NT$500 voucher per person, made it well worth the trip.
On my second visit, the sweet shrimp was still incredibly fresh, we drank all-you-can-drink Gekkeikan sake, and the wide variety of dishes satisfied both adults and children. 😌
The second visit was comfortable as it wasn't too crowded. If you're taking the bus back, I suggest arriving at the bus stop early to avoid missing it.
The staff who picked me up and dropped me off were very friendly 👍🏻 and their timing was also very cooperative. They even helped with my luggage, which made me feel very happy!
My friend and I used this tour in mid-October. Dr. Chen was our guide. We showed him our list of places we wanted to visit, which we'd researched in advance, and he took care of the rest. It was a five-hour tour, which I think is the best time for sightseeing. We departed from our hotel at 11:00 a.m. and he introduced us to many tourist spots. We enjoyed local cuisine, including recommended squid dumplings, cactus ice cream, somen noodle soup, and fresh sashimi. We also visited the Waian Fishing Port Observatory, the furthest point from Magong. We circled the island while touring the tourist sites. We were surprised to arrive back at the hotel at exactly 4:00 p.m. Dr. Chen and I spoke Chinese occasionally (since we were Taiwanese exchange students), but mostly in Japanese, using a translation app. He was very friendly and taught us a lot of things. Renting a motorbike is also an option, but due to the strong winds in Penghu, it's best to avoid it outside of summer. For such a fulfilling experience and a reasonable price, this tour is definitely worth considering.
