My first trip to Taipingshan coincided with a cold snap; the temperature on the mountain was only 1 degree Celsius, and with the rain, it felt even colder. Having been to Smangus in Hsinchu, I found the mountain roads on Taipingshan to be quite manageable. When visiting Jiuzhize, I don't recommend cooking just two ears of corn; the water will wash them out of the bamboo basket, making them difficult to find. It's advisable to cook with a group. Finally, we visited a tea-producing area; the hot tea was delicious, and the braised dishes were on the sweeter side.
