The trip was organised so well, to ensure we had the most time in Alishan our driver rearranged the stops a little. Which was great. It rained all day, but this didn’t dampen spirits. The area is amazing no matter what the weather holds. Lunch was great and the communication from the organisers before hand was perfect.
We opted for the high-speed rail round trip, and a private car took us to Alishan Station. The trails were easy to walk on, and the guide was very interesting and even helped us take photos. Dinner was hot pot, which was alright, with three side dishes, but the pot for two was quite small, making us afraid of tipping it over. For an extra NT$350, we saw fireflies; they provided red flashlights—quite a few, small and cute, but unfortunately, my phone couldn't capture them clearly in a photo. Our accommodation was the Sakurayama Hotel, which was quite clean. The room didn't have any strange smells, and the staff were very responsive. There was a water dispenser with hot water, and the location was near the Alishan parking lot, just a few minutes' walk away. We were lucky enough to see the sunrise the next day. We initially thought the fog would be too thick, but thankfully we waited a few extra minutes and saw the sun slowly rise. The temperature was about 13 degrees Celsius, and my long-sleeved shirt, thick down jacket, thick pants, and thin scarf were just right. The next day at Fenqihu, due to time constraints, we only visited the old street area. We also bought some donuts. The tour guide reminded us of the arrival time at Fenqihu Railway Station, as it was the last train, and we had to catch it. The Alishan Express was very bumpy, but also very fun and exciting. We took motion sickness medication to avoid getting sick. I think the price was quite reasonable, including meals, accommodation, and a driver. It wasn't too tiring. There was Line customer service available for inquiries. A great trip!
Comfortable stay in alishan hotel with breakfast and dinner buffet within package. Tour group was professionally conducted with ample time within each sight
The entire trip was exquisitely packaged, from receiving the transparent ticket to seating arrangements, concierge service, train ambiance, menu, souvenirs, and more – it felt like opening a gift, with surprises in every detail. Although the weather was overcast that day, preventing access to the most stunning views and coastal scenery, the overall sophistication of the package and food was captivating, making it impossible not to capture it with a camera! I especially appreciated the guided tours at the next stop, which included visits to towns and villages not typically visited on regular tours, offering a deeper understanding of Taiwan's local customs and culture. While the price wasn't cheap, it was still worthwhile. Furthermore, purchasing through KKday offered a $90 discount coupon, making it cheaper than buying directly from the website. And if tickets are sold out on the website, checking KKday again might still offer some availability.
Alishan is a little too short and not sure if Sun Moon lake should be included in the itinerary by the long distend driving on the road. But all the driver and tour staff are very helpful and nice. Amy is very response for any question and connecting points. We pay extract for the hotel stay in Alishan, the hotel didn't know it until I told them it was an upgrade request from KKday and we should have the bigger room. They finally switched us to the right room. Thank you. .
Arrangements was perfect and we do have sufficient time to be on our own and the drivers are very prompt and courteous.
