I was able to enter smoothly by going straight to the entrance and showing the screen to the staff, without having to queue at the ticket counter. You also earn points, and you can buy tickets even at the last minute, so I recommend buying them on your way there once you've decided to go.
You must bring a change of underwear, as you can wear clothes into the rock bath rooms, but you'll be soaked afterward. The women's bathing and showering areas are on the 7th floor; you cannot wear clothes in the bathing area. There's only one water dispenser in the 7th-floor bathing area, but it's for drinking only, not for filling. The food in the restaurant is a bit pricey. I kept my water in a locker and drank from it whenever I needed. Procedure: First, the shuttle bus runs approximately every half hour; if it's a holiday, it's recommended to arrive early to queue. Upon arrival, put your shoes in the locker and retrieve your key, then proceed to the payment counter. Purchasing at KKday is cheaper. After payment, you'll be given a key wristband for use with the locker and other payments. After payment, collect your clothing bag next to you. The bag contains a set of clothes and three towels: a brown towel for the rock bath, a small green towel for the bath, and a large green towel for drying yourself after showering. There are two rock baths on the 3rd floor; the blue one is less hot, and the red one is hot. You can stay in them for as long as you like. The rest of the third and fourth floors are restaurants and lounge areas, where most people lie down or sit looking at their phones or enjoying the view.
I visited on Sunday, August 2nd. It wasn't crowded, which is much better than it being packed. The rental parasols are a bit heavy and not suitable for children, so I recommend bringing your own hat for kids. The rental parasols are large and have a lovely light blue design, suitable for women. The staff are very kind. It's a botanical garden-style facility intended for strolling. Wear comfortable shoes. You can get a discount on the entrance fee if you purchase tickets in advance. The toilets along the way were not clearly separated by gender, which didn't sit right with me. First-time visitors and children might get confused.
🗻 Matcha Summit and Midsummer Fireworks: A Perfect Day Trip to Atami, Izu with a Friendly Atmosphere for Seniors✨ 📍 First Stop: Mt. Omuro, Resembling a Giant Matcha Pudding When in Izu, a pilgrimage to this adorable, green extinct volcano is a must! From a bird's-eye view, Mt. Omuro looks like a giant, therapeutic matcha pudding🍮. Although it was a cloudy day, the approximately 1-kilometer crater trail was easily completed in about 20-25 minutes. However, the weather on the mountain was incredibly unpredictable! Halfway up, the clouds rapidly spread, and thunder followed!⚡ The park management issued an emergency announcement warning everyone to descend immediately. Even the souvenir shop at the summit closed early, so we didn't have time to shop there. Luckily, we managed to eat dango (rice dumplings) before reaching the top. Fortunately, we timed it perfectly, successfully completing the loop and taking the cable car down safely. Seeing other tourists being stopped and turned back as soon as they started climbing, we felt incredibly lucky! 📍 Second Stop: A Stunning Yet Comfortable Atami Fireworks Festival When traveling with elders, the biggest fear is an overly strenuous itinerary and physical exhaustion. This time, we chose a KKday one-day tour, taking a bus to Atami to watch the fireworks, and the experience was absolutely fantastic! 💯 Although it rained a little in the evening, the weather cooperated perfectly when we arrived in Atami, and the rain stopped just in time. The biggest advantage of taking a long-distance bus is that the elders can rest well during the journey, without worrying about them getting tired. This was also my first time watching fireworks up close—no hordes of people, and no unbearable heat. We enjoyed a comfortable 25-minute dazzling fireworks show 🎆 while enjoying the cool sea breeze, and even the end wasn't overly crowded. It was truly an unprecedented and perfect viewing experience! Happy ending! 🥰
The unique atmosphere of Hakone Shrine is very relaxing. The fireworks festival in Atami is especially atmospheric when viewed from the sea, because there are other boats on the water. If the view is blocked, the captain will immediately move to another better viewing area. Before watching the fireworks festival, pay special attention to the meal times and make arrangements in advance, otherwise you will be waiting in line until you faint.
