[Tsuruga-jo Castle Park]
Tsuruga-jo Castle Park covers an area of approximately 69,000 tsubo, featuring reconstructed buildings such as the castle keep and tea houses centered around the main enclosure. The area inside the inner moat retains much of the layout from the time of the Boshin War and was designated as a National Historic Site in 1934.
[Ouchi-juku]
Ouchi-juku in Minamiaizu, Fukushima Prefecture, flourished during the Edo period as a post town on an important road connecting Aizu-Wakamatsu City and Nikko Imaichi. Even today, folk houses with thatched roofs line the street, retaining the atmosphere of the Edo period, and people still live in them as shops and residences to preserve this landscape.
＜Ouchi-juku Snow Festival＞
Many handmade snow lanterns (made by hardening snow and lighting a candle or lamp inside) are placed along the street by the residents, and each one is lit at night. Please enjoy this winter tradition that represents Aizu.
