I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. These were all places I'd always wanted to visit, and the fact that the Zao Wang tour was the perfect opportunity to achieve them all was fantastic. This trip left me with wonderful memories, and I also had a wonderful tour guide.
This trip included visits to Ōuchi-juku, the Fox Village, and the Zao Snow Trees. Overall, it felt more fulfilling and layered than I had imagined. Ōuchi-juku was enveloped in snow, and the thatched-roof houses and streets retained a strong sense of history. Walking through it, you naturally slowed down to experience a pace completely different from modern life. The atmosphere at the Fox Village was quite unique. The foxes roamed freely in the snow, not afraid of people, but not deliberately approaching either, making the whole environment feel very real and comfortable. Observing them up close was a rare experience. The Zao Snow Trees were truly breathtaking. After taking the cable car up the mountain, seeing the entire forest covered in snow and ice was even more spectacular than any photo. The cold and the vastness of the landscape combined to make you unconsciously quiet down and just want to focus on the scenery. The tour guide's explanations also greatly enhanced the trip. He didn't just lead the itinerary but explained the background, origin, and characteristics of each place clearly. You could tell he had prepared very carefully, making the trip more than just "seeing the scenery"—it was about truly understanding what you were seeing. Overall, it was a well-paced and substantial trip that I would definitely want to reminisce about.
