    • Shin SAKE SQUARE 2026
Aichi Prefecture has been a thriving sake brewery for a thousand years, with approximately 40 breweries currently boasting the seventh-highest production volume in Japan. In Gifu Prefecture, meltwater from the Northern Alps, Mt. Ibuki, and Mt. Ena creates rivers such as the Nagara River and the Kiso River, and the clear underground water from these streams produces delicious sake. Mie Prefecture has been known as "Miketsu-kuni" (Land of Food) for approximately 2,000 years, and a rich food culture has flourished around Ise Shrine. The water resources off the eastern coast of the Kii Peninsula produce fragrant, flavorful sake. This first-ever event, held in March, will allow visitors to taste local sake from these three Tokai prefectures as "Shin-Sake," freshly pressed or "first-pressed" sake made with locally grown, locally consumed rice.
