Shirahama Onsen

Our family visited during the Lunar New Year in 2026 and the overall experience was positive, especially suitable for amusement-oriented travelers. Due to limited time, we mainly focused on the play area and Pingu exhibition area in the park to purchase Pingu peripherals and did not go to the zoo area to see other animals, due to lack of time. Amusement facilities are key, remember to go to the counter before playing to buy any play wristband, we have to ask the staff to find the counter. The indoor roller coaster is somewhat similar to the roller coaster inside West Kowloon Center in Sham Shui Po. It's a memory kill. The park has ample dining facilities, plenty of seats and easy to find a place, with a comfortable dining environment without long queues or fights.

Good things: 1) Arranging your own chartered car allows you to go to places that can only be reached by renting a car! The itinerary was packed: places only Japanese people go to like Chosei-no-Yu (遠生の鹯), Kanro-no-Yu (臥の鹯), the slow-living fruit Ventotto Cafe, and the family's local market – awesome! 2) The driver was young and easy to manage! Since Kanro-no-Yu unexpectedly closed, the driver and I could easily switch to another Kanro-no-Yu! My family and I all enjoyed it!!! Things to improve: 1) If the driver could research my entire itinerary beforehand, and could readily tell me my maximum stay time in the afternoon, I would allow more time at the cafes!!! 2) Although I know there are extra charges for overtime, if everyone could plan their stay time at the attractions in advance, it would avoid putting undue pressure on my family. A clue: It's worth renting, but it depends on the driver's preparation.

The drivers always arrive at the pick-up point early and are very friendly. They also check on the passengers' condition during the journey. However, I am prone to motion sickness, and I experienced some discomfort during the trip due to motion sickness!

You can easily redeem your WAKAYAMA FUN PASS or QR CODE at the manned counters in many locations. The most recommended place is Adventureland, which is mainly animal-themed but has few unpleasant smells and the shows are all excellent. If you want to ride the rides, you can also buy single-entry or single-day passes through the ticket machines inside the park.
