The shop is very meticulous and will contact us via email after ordering to discuss the details. However, there are no Chinese-speaking staff at the Kyoto Station branch. Fortunately, the photographer is Taiwanese and will prepare props and teach us how to pose. The photos have a great artistic feel! You can choose 20 retouched photos for the one-hour photoshoot, and you'll instantly look 20 years younger after the retouching! Overall, it was a fantastic and worthwhile trip.
Booked a 8.30am slot on a Tuesday and it was very packed when we went in. When we returned our kimonos at 1pm, the store was also very packed. Store space (first floor for outfit selection, second floor for hairstyling and changing) are both not big. Japanese lady who helped me with my kimono in my second floor was very lovely.
But the choices of kimono even for the special offer are great. There are even lace designs available to choose from. Hairstyling was also done very nicely and I love it!
Make sure to eat it warm, haha. It was a shame that there weren't many types of drinks, and since the sushi is cold, please have the fried dishes instead.
The tour guide and driver were friendly and helpful, and each of the three scenic spots had its own unique charm; the tour departed from Osaka by tour bus, saving time and effort.
The shop was very crowded during cherry blossom season, and the staff were very patient and helpful even though they hadn't eaten or drunk anything. They spoke Chinese, and the clothing styles were decent; the uniforms were especially nice. The only downside was that the shop was a bit small.
There were many styles of kimonos available, and quite a few Japanese couples were renting them while I was browsing in the shop. Some of the staff spoke Mandarin and were very friendly. I ended up paying extra for accessories like a collar and obi (sash), which made the overall look even better. A small suggestion: walking in a kimono is quite inconvenient; visiting only Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama Park near Gion is already a great experience. If you're going further, I suggest not changing into geta (wooden sandals).
The eel rice was delicious! But a friendly reminder: it has a strong charcoal grilling smell (on your clothes), and because it's freshly grilled, be prepared for a fairly long wait.
