Oga Aquarium GAO Admission Ticket in Akita | Japan
2026/06/27
I visited Oga Aquarium in Akita Prefecture on a Sunday in June. It took about an hour and a half by rental car from Akita City, and I arrived before 9 AM. The weather was bad, and it was raining quite heavily, but there were about 30 people ahead of me in line. I had purchased my ticket in advance, so entry was smooth, but they check in at the same counter as those purchasing on the day, so I think it would be fine to purchase on the day as well. The polar bear area was smaller than I expected, but since it was early in the morning, I was able to view them at my leisure. At first, I was in the lower viewing area, but I found it easier to see the entire exhibit area from the upper level. It was impressive to see the sea lions and seals swimming up close through the tanks. Although it is a small aquarium, there is an interactive area for small children, so I think families can enjoy it. I was very happy to see the polar bears, Momo-chan and Momota-kun, a mother and cub, and Gota-kun, who was in a separate area.
