There's a bus directly from Otaru Station to the pier. You can exchange your reservation PDF for a physical ticket at the counter, and you can also keep it as a souvenir. I bought a dormitory-style room, which was a single bed on the side – very nice, a private corner, thank you! The boat trip was an unforgettable experience; I highly recommend it if you have the time and love nature – it's a truly wonderful experience!
This is a beautiful art installation left over from the art season, well worth a visit. After viewing it, having a coffee at the riverside café is a very pleasant and satisfying experience.
Due to the itinerary, we went straight to Karuizawa on the first day and didn't realize that the Tokyo Wide Pass I bought on KKDay could only be redeemed for physical tickets at Narita, Tokyo, and Shinjuku stations. I am grateful to KKDay customer service for their assistance in canceling the ticket (after deducting a 10% handling fee).
After a long day of fun, we could easily take a chartered car back to the hotel to rest.
