Schleswig was not always a peaceful and tranquil place. The plague raged through the city in several waves. The venerable Schleswig Cathedral is said to be haunted and the fishermen on the Schlei were also threatened. Blameless women were accused of witchcraft and usually burned at the stake. We visit places where the horrors of bygone times become tangible. Do we still have to be careful of Black Grete on our walk today?
