Discover the world of cinema at Bavaria Filmstadt in Munich and step directly into real film and TV sets on a guided tour through one of Europe’s most important media locations. Since 1919, productions have been created at the historic Geiselgasteig studios—and today, you can experience this legacy up close.
Your tour takes you through more than a century of film history, from early silent films to major cinema productions, cult TV series, and international blockbusters. Along the way, you’ll encounter familiar faces and stories from in front of and behind the camera that shaped German and international film.
A highlight is the original set from the cinema hit „Das Kanu des Manitu“, the long-awaited sequel to the classic „Der Schuh des Manitu“ by Michael Bully Herbig. Exclusively at Bavaria Filmstadt, step inside the mysterious cave where Abahachi and his loyal blood brother Ranger face dangerous challenges in search of the legendary canoe. The film was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize 2025 and attracted over 5 million cinema visitors.
Step into the world of the cult series „Die Rosenheim-Cops“ and visit Büro Stockl and the interrogation room. Here, you can reenact short scenes yourself, take on the role of police staff, and create your own mini crime episode, available later as a souvenir.
Fans of classic cinema will explore the original submarine set of „Das Boot“ (The Boat), where Wolfgang Petersen filmed key scenes of the 1981 masterpiece, and learn about its later TV adaptation.
The tour also ventures into fantasy and science fiction. Discover the magical set from „Die Zauberflöte“ (The Magic Flute) and walk through the detailed space station from „Stowaway“, inspired by the ISS and featured in the 2021 film.
Interactive elements are part of the experience. Step in front of the camera in Elyas M’Barek’s classroom from „Fack ju Göhte“ or try visual effects techniques in the VFX studio. Your clips can be purchased as digital souvenirs after the tour.
Another highlight is the redesigned backlot street, transformed for the Amazon Prime series „Luden“ into a vibrant 1980s Hamburg Reeperbahn with clubs, bars, and neon-lit façades.
The Bavaria Filmstadt tour combines cinema history, iconic sets, and hands-on experiences into an engaging journey for film fans of all ages.
