-What you can expect- Your journey begins from Shinjuku, heading towards Tochigi prefecture, home to Nikko City. The first stop on your tour is the renowned Nikko Toshogu Shrine, the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868 during the Edo Period. Here, you can admire the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site while learning about the fascinating stories and legends behind its buildings from your guide.
Following your visit to the shrine, you'll traverse the famous Iroha Slope, known for its 48 sharp turns and its depiction in the animation "Initial D". This road is particularly popular during autumn due to its beautiful fall foliage. Your next destination is Kegon Waterfall, an almost 100-meter-tall spectacle that ranks among Japan's three most beautiful waterfalls.
Later in the day, your tour will split into two groups. You can choose to either stroll along Lake Chuzenji or experience the soothing Nikko hot spring. Before concluding your tour, you'll make a stop at the Onihei Edo service area, an intriguing rest stop featuring Edo-style designs and traditional souvenirs.
