Leaving the Basque capital behind, you'll travel through rolling vineyard scenery that marks your entrance into one of Spain’s most renowned wine regions. During the morning, you'll explore Laguardia and its surrounding area, a medieval town encircled by vines. The journey then takes you to a small, family-owned winery, far from the crowds, where a guided tour and tasting allow you to learn about the winemaking process and sample wines with distinct character.
The day continues with a traditional four-course Rioja lunch followed by dessert. The menu features local specialities such as blood sausage, piquillo peppers and guindillas, Rioja-style beans with potatoes, grilled lamb chops cooked over wood fire with salad, and the classic Basque dessert Goxua. Carefully selected local wines accompany the meal, showcasing the close relationship between Rioja gastronomy and its landscape. After lunch and a final toast, you'll return to Vitoria-Gasteiz.
