Discover the Wonders of Ancient Rome and the Vatican

Immerse yourself in the heart of Rome and explore its most iconic religious and historical sites, from the archaeological wonders of the Colosseum to the masterpieces of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Follow in the footsteps of emperors and Roman citizens and experience the city as it was in its glory.

Begin your journey at the Touristation Aracoeli office, located at Piazza Ara Coeli 16. Here, you’ll meet your expert guide and enjoy a 30-minute immersive multimedia video on Ancient Rome, created by a renowned production team with credits from UNESCO, BBC, and National Geographic. Witness the evolution of Rome through breathtaking visuals before stepping out into the city’s legendary monuments.

Next, stroll through evocative ruins and majestic palaces under the guidance of your professional guide. Few places in the world rival the haunting beauty and grandeur of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Learn about the city’s evolution as a political, religious, economic, and legal hub, exploring iconic landmarks such as the Curia, Arch of Septimius Severus, Tabularium, and the Temple of Saturn. Wander along the Via Sacra, the sacred road once filled with triumphal processions, leading you to the Colosseum, the world’s most famous arena. Don’t miss the Arch of Constantine, a symbol of imperial power and legacy.

Step inside the Colosseum, a marvel of ancient Roman engineering and the largest amphitheater ever built. Hear fascinating stories of gladiatorial combats, naval reenactments, wild animal hunts, and grand spectacles that could last up to 100 days, giving you a window into the grandeur, drama, and entertainment of the Roman Empire.

On the same day or the following day, continue your exploration with a 3-hour guided tour of the Vatican Museums. Discover a world of art, history, and culture, from the Egyptian and Etruscan collections to the Greco-Roman halls and Renaissance masterpieces. Admire frescoes, sculptures, tapestries, and historical maps as you move through the Borgia Apartments, the Vatican Pinacoteca, the Gallery of Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, and more.

End your visit in the Sistine Chapel, where you’ll be awed by Michelangelo’s stunning ceiling, Botticelli’s exquisite works, and masterpieces by Ghirlandaio, Pinturicchio, and Perugino. Each room and gallery tells a story, inviting you to experience the Vatican as both a spiritual and artistic treasure.
