Unlock the spirit of the American West on a private 10-hour journey that blends legendary wildlife, rugged ranch traditions, and the quiet wisdom of the land.

Your day begins in the early light of Grand Teton National Park and Togwotee Pass. As you scout for grizzly bears, wolves, and moose, your guide will share the history of the mountain men and the Native American tribes who first called this wilderness home. Along the trail, you’ll discover the wild pharmacy of the West, identifying a few key medicinal plants that have been used for healing for centuries.

The heart of the experience is an immersion into authentic cowboy culture. We’ll travel to the historic 3 Spear Ranch, a sanctuary of Western heritage. You’ll swing into the saddle for a 2-hour horseback ride, traversing the same ridgelines and meadows that the Eastern Shoshone once navigated. Whether you’re an expert rider or a first-timer, the ranch’s wranglers will help you connect with your horse and the vast Wyoming horizon.

After the ride, dust off your boots and gather for a signature ranch lunch. Served in the heart of the homestead, this meal captures the true hospitality of the high country. You’ll return to Jackson with a deeper understanding of the plants, the animals, and the grit that make the West an icon of freedom.

  • Know Before You Go: Footwear is Mandatory: For safety reasons, closed-toe shoes are required for the horseback riding portion. Boots with a small heel are ideal, but sturdy sneakers are acceptable. Sandals or crocs are not permitted.

  • Know Before You Go: Dress in Layers: High-country weather changes rapidly. Even if it is warm in Jackson, Togwotee Pass can be significantly cooler. Bring a light jacket, long pants, and a hat.

  • Know Before You Go: Riding Requirements: No prior horseback riding experience is necessary. However, please note that there is typically a weight limit (usually 250 lbs / 113 kg) and a minimum age requirement for riders. P

  • Know Before You Go: Wildlife Sightings: While we use professional tracking techniques and high-quality optics, wildlife is wild and sightings cannot be 100% guaranteed.

  • Know Before You Go: Sun Protection: The sun is much stronger at high altitudes. We recommend applying sunscreen and wearing sunglasses even on overcast days.
