What was daily life like behind the Berlin Wall in the postwar GDR? How did the Stasi police operate, and why did German citizens fear them? Book a 3-hour private tour of the Stasimuseum (Forschungs- und Gedenkstätte Normannenstraße). This tour is ideal for history buffs but also for those who want to learn about communism and what life in East Berlin used to be like before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The tour will begin in Alexanderplatz, a public square in the center of the German Democratic Republic, where the largest demonstration in GDR’s history took place in 1989. From there, you will take public transport to the Stasi Museum - all tickets are included.

The Stasi Museum is housed in the original building of the former headquarters of the Ministry of State Security. Inside, you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at how the secret Stasi police operated and see their original spying technology such as bugs and hidden cameras. You will also visit the Ministerial Offices and the office of Erich Mielke, which displays his famous red briefcase, in which he used to keep the most sensitive information. Find out how informants were recruited and how the citizens were spied on and controlled!
