Step back in time to 1744 at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, North America’s largest historical reconstruction. Your journey begins in downtown Sydney with a scenic, narrated drive past the city's iconic landmarks, including historical Victoria Park, the Cossit House and Jost House museums, the historic St. George's Church, and the lush greenery of Wentworth Park. Crossing over the beautiful Albert Bridge, you will make your way down the coast to the fortress itself.

Once there, this living museum completely transports you to a thriving 18th-century French colonial community. You will walk through massive historic gates to discover military ramparts, bustling barracks, and elegant homes. The sights and sounds of the past come vividly alive as you smell fresh bread baking in traditional stone ovens, hear muskets echoing across the grounds, and chat with costumed animators who share captivating tales of French soldiers, fishermen, governors, and the resilient women who shaped this vibrant town.
