An aurora experience specially created so that families with small children can enjoy a night under the Lapland sky in a comfortable, fun, and safe way.
After picking you up and getting equipped with the necessary winter season clothing, we'll head to a cozy wooden cabin located by a lake and away from the light pollution of Rovaniemi. This will be our viewing point during the night.
Unlike a traditional Northern Lights chase, here we won't spend hours driving from place to place. We'll stay in this location while our tour guide monitors aurora activity, the weather, and sky conditions in real time. If the auroras appear, we'll just have to go outside to observe them from the lake.
While we wait, our Little Hunters School will begin. Through games, activities, and child-friendly explanations, the whole family will learn what auroras are, how they are formed, what conditions are needed to see them, and how to look for them.
We will also learn to use some of the apps that aurora hunters use, to interpret solar activity, and to be attentive to the signs in the sky. The idea is that the little ones don't have to just wait: they'll also be part of the search.
During the evening, we'll prepare a Lappish BBQ by the fire, with roasted sausages and berry juice, while we keep an eye on the sky and the conditions.
And if the Northern Lights make an appearance, we'll go out together to observe them from this lakeside setting and put everything we've learned during the night into practice.
Before finishing, the kids will receive their Little Aurora Hunter diploma as a souvenir of the experience.
To round off the evening, we'll enjoy a hot chocolate with marshmallows toasted over the fire before heading back to Rovaniemi.
The auroras are a natural phenomenon and we can never guarantee that they will appear. That's why this experience is designed for the whole family to enjoy a special night in Lapland, even while waiting, combining auroras, games, learning, and a BBQ by the fire.
