During the tour, you’ll learn about Oulu’s fascinating history, local lifestyle, culture, and nature — and how the city comes back to life after a long, cold winter. Breathe in the crisp Arctic air, listen to the songs of returning migratory birds, and observe wildlife and nature slowly waking up.

We start from Oulu Market Square, continuing along the Oulu River Delta and the dramatic landscapes of the Bothnian Bay, where melting ice crashes and hundreds of birds fill the air with sound. From there, we walk through the historic Pikisaari, explore the Oulu Castle ruins, and continue to Ainolan Park — one of the most exciting spots in spring.

In Ainolan Puisto, you’ll enjoy the sounds of cracking ice, singing birds, flowing water, and see how nature turns green again after winter. The route continues past the hydroelectric power station, then to Oulu Cathedral and along Rotuaari pedestrian street, before returning to Oulu Market Square.
