Surfing Lessons
The reason Manuel Antonio is famous for its surf conditions is the quality of its waves. To a surfer, it is all about the waves.

With a wide variety of surf breaks, Puntarenas is one of the best places in Costa Rica to improve as a surfer. Those just starting out can ride gentle waves before transitioning to more challenging ones. From Manuel Antonio, the nearest and most popular surfing beach is Playitas. Its wide and gently curving face opens it up to swell from all directions.

Your surfing lesson starts with choosing the right board and learning basic safety. Then you’ll practice navigating out into the break zone, timing waves, popping up, and finally balancing on the wave and riding it yourself. Along the way, your instructor will be in the surf with you, offering tips and providing a helping hand. Throughout your lesson, you can cool off with a cold drink in the shade of a beach tent.
