El Chaltén: Capri Hike with Guide and Patagonian Picnic from El Calafate｜Argentina

The adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in El Calafate. We'll head north along the legendary Route 40, accompanied by Lake Argentino and the open landscapes of the Patagonian steppe. Along the way, you may spot guanacos, Patagonian foxes, and condors, while the Fitz Roy mountain range begins to appear on the horizon.

We'll stop at the historic Parador La Leona, located on the banks of the river of the same name. This former shelter for travelers and explorers is part of the history of Patagonia and Route 40. This will be a chance to stretch your legs, have a drink, and enjoy the scenery before continuing on to El Chaltén.

Upon arrival in El Chaltén, known as the National Capital of Trekking, we'll head to the start of the Laguna Capri trail. Before starting, we'll have time to get ready and adjust the pace of the hike.

The hike passes through lenga and ñire forests, clearings, and natural vantage points. As we gain altitude, new panoramic views of the Río de las Vueltas valley and the imposing Fitz Roy mountain range come into sight. During the hike, our guide will share information about the flora, fauna, geology, history, and conservation of this unique environment.

Upon reaching Laguna Capri, we'll have time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and take photographs. We'll share a Patagonian lunchbox/picnic while admiring Mount Fitz Roy and the tranquility of the lagoon.

We'll then start the descent along the same trail, once again enjoying the views and the Patagonian forest. At the end of the hike, our driver will be waiting to take us back to El Calafate and drop you off at your accommodation again.

This experience is ideal for those who want to explore El Chaltén on foot, but without taking on one of the longest and most demanding trekking routes in the area. An active and fulfilling day to connect with nature, learn about Patagonia, and enjoy one of its most iconic landscapes.
