Did you know that Albert Einstein grew up in Munich, Germany? This original walking tour of Munich’s Old Town will bring you closer to a German mathematician and physicist who forever changed the world of science. Discover Munich and learn about Einstein's childhood, school education, scientific career, political views and so on!

This 2-hour tour explores the historic Old Town in Munich, following the story of Albert Einstein, who lived here from 1880 to 1894. Our expert guide will share fascinating stories about Einstein’s childhood years, his early education and discovery of the “holy geometry book”. You will learn about his family, his father’s work, personal friendships, and more.

The tour will pass Müllerstraße, where the Einstein family’s first apartment in Munich and the former Luitpold-Gymnasium were located, and Blumenstraße where he attended elementary school. You will pause by St Jacob’s Synagogue, giving you a chance to learn about Einstein’s Jewish roots and his religious views. Your private guide will also show you major landmarks such as St Peter’s Church and Marienplatz, featuring the ornate New Town Hall.

Another highlight will be diving deep into Munich’s history, as you will pass the historic Hofbräuhaus München, where Adolf Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch began in November 1923. What would have been Einstein’s response to these events if he stayed in the city, and what was his general view on German nationalism and military? Why did he seek refuge in Switzerland, and what was his view on Oppenheimer’s creation of the atomic bomb during World War II?

The tour will end outside the current Luitpold-Gymnasium building, opposite the popular English Garden. Here, you will have a chance to learn more about Einstein’s influence on the world of science, his achievements in physics and other special interests. Reserve your spot now to discover the little known story of Albert Einstein's time in Munich!
