Begin your experience at Mesarmi Tasting Crete with a short introductory presentation and video, offering insight into the day ahead and the fascinating world of Cretan wine.
From there, head to a family vineyard, located just 5 km from the tasting room (private transport is recommended). Surrounded by the peaceful Cretan countryside, be introduced to the vineyard’s seasonal activities and traditional cultivation methods. Depending on the time of year, you may have the chance to participate in authentic vineyard work such as pruning, leaf thinning, tying vines, or even harvesting grapes during late summer. During harvest season, crush freshly picked grapes and taste the must on the way back — a truly memorable hands-on experience.
As you walk among the vines, discuss the island’s terroir, native flora, and the close connection between nature and winemaking in Crete.
The experience concludes with a curated wine tasting featuring five carefully selected wines from different Cretan wineries, all produced with local grape varieties. Tastings can take place either in the cozy tasting room or outdoors in the vineyard as a picnic beneath the trees — a unique option available upon request for guests who would enjoy a more rustic countryside atmosphere.
Receive a wine tasting booklet with information about Cretan vineyards and native grapes, guidance on wine tasting techniques and aromas, space for personal tasting notes, a pencil, and souvenir postcards to remember the experience.
The wine selection can also be tailored to your preferences, including white, rosé, or red wines, upon prior arrangement.
To complement the wines, enjoy a selection of traditional Cretan delicacies prepared with fresh local ingredients.
