This is the easiest and most convenient way to really enjoy only the best of Samaria gorge without getting exhaust by walking the whole trail at the same time you get the best of the gorge's views they are at the bottom of it. This experience starts from Agia Roumeli seaside village located at the bottom of Samaria gorge). From Agia Roumeli you will hike entering the gorge from the South entrance with the guidance of a very experienced guide. Right after your entrance you will get the greatest views of the gorge and as long as you walk, you have amazing rock formations around you. This part of the gorge is the most beautiful and you are right there without having to start walking from the very top. What is coming next is smooth uphill until the abandoned village of Samaria (6Km) where you will get a break. You return by hiking downhill to Agia Roumeli where you will have enough time to swim in the crystal clear waters of South Cretan Sea or to relax at the restaurants until the time the last and only ferry departures back to Sougia. This way you don't need to walk the whole gorge just to see the most beautiful and pictured section of it! Also, anytime you want to stop, you can stop and return back to Agia Roumeli where you will meet again later with the rest of the group
