Vienna Walk & Talk: Art History Crash Course｜Austria

Embark on an art-historical journey with an art historian (PhD) and experience the fundamentals of art history. In our walk and talk crash course on the highlights of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, the first part takes place directly in front of the original works of the Collection of Antiquities, followed by the art of the Middle Ages from around 1200 to 1490.

In the second part, we focus on the art of the Renaissance and Late Renaissance, covering the period from approximately 1490 to 1600.

After a break — at the café in the historicist domed hall at the very top of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, if it is not too crowded — we continue with the art of the Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassicism. You will learn about the period from around 1600 to the 19th century through paintings and sculptures by Rembrandt, Tiepolo, Canova, and others, as well as original paintings by Gustav Klimt.

In this crash course, you will gain a solid overview of the major periods and foundations of art history, as well as of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna and its most outstanding works. An enriching, stimulating and fun experience for all art lovers, from beginners to experts.
