Choose from two options when you visit the Mauthausen Memorial. With the 6.5-hour fully-guided option, travel from Vienna with a private guide in your car. On the 6-hour on-site option, travel in your private car without your guide and meet them at the Memorial.
Meet your driver at your hotel in Vienna before driving to Mauthausen. At Mauthausen, enter the former concentration camp. As you walk through the sobering memorial, hear about the events that led to the Holocaust and the creation of the camp.
Explore the museum and visit the Wiener-Graben Quarry, the SS-Quarters, the original prisoners' barracks, crematoriums, and memorials. Hear stories of the camp’s victims, including intelligentsia and prisoners of war.
The stories of extreme starvation, extermination by labor, icy showers, and “stairs of death” will make you understand the immense cruelty of the Mauthausen concentration camp. After seeing the camp, return to Vienna in your private transportation.
