  • This small workshop is located 4.8km east of Himeji Castle, a World Heritage Site, and a 15-minute drive away. Why not try a pottery experience in between sightseeing? This experience lasts approximately three hours. During the pottery experience, you can make all kinds of tableware (rice bowls, vases, plates, glasses, etc.). Bizen ware clay or a blend of Bizen ware clay and red clay is used, and the pieces are fired in an electric kiln. The fired color will be ash-covered or red-striped. *I have been learning English for three years.
  • Create a one-of-a-kind original piece!
  • The clay you can use is approximately 1kg! There is no limit to the number of pieces you can make, but please feel free to create your own piece. After creating your piece on the potter's wheel, you can center it, plane it, turn it over, finish it to a high base, and add your signature. After creating your piece, it will be thoroughly dried and then fired.
  • Choose your desired browning! Haikaburi (ash-covered) or Hidasuki (scarlet-covered)
  • <Ash Cover> Ash from the wood gets on the piece during firing, creating a pattern. <Scarlet Wrap> Straw is wrapped around the piece during firing to prevent direct contact with the flames and ash. A beautiful scarlet pattern is created. Both are typical firing colors of Bizen ware! This is one of the charms of Bizen ware, as no two pieces are exactly alike.
