商品説明
Begin at Collegium Novum, the elegant neo-Gothic seat of the Jagiellonian University’s authorities. Learn about the tragic events of 1939, when professors were arrested during the Sonderaktion Krakau, and see the Freedom Oak commemorating their legacy. Nearby stands the statue of Nicolaus Copernicus, once a student here, shown in the traditional attire of a medieval scholar.
Continue along Gołębia Street, the historic academic artery lined with former student bursas and today’s university faculties. Pass the building where Karol Wojtyła—later Pope John Paul II—studied Polish literature. Step into the peaceful Professors’ Garden from the outside and hear about academic customs, traditions, and daily life in past centuries.
Arrive at the jewel of the district: Collegium Maius. Its Gothic courtyard, arcaded galleries, and famous clock with a moving procession of university benefactors tell the story of the institution’s medieval roots and its rebirth thanks to Queen Jadwiga.
Walk on to Collegium Minus and Collegium Kołłątaja, where groundbreaking scientific experiments took place, including the liquefaction of oxygen and nitrogen. Finish at the University Collegiate Church of St. Anne, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and the ceremonial heart of academic Kraków.
If you choose the extended 3-hour option, the tour will also include entry to the Jagiellonian University Museum – Collegium Maius, where you’ll explore the historic interiors, medieval lecture halls, collections of scientific instruments, and the famous professors’ rooms that preserve over 600 years of academic tradition.
