This tour takes you to where Amsterdam began – and where the Netherlands still looks the way it always has.
We start in Amsterdam Noord, a district with its own, often overlooked history – and the perfect starting point for a ride through the rural surroundings.
Along the Nieuwendammerdijk, we cycle through one of the most beautiful and unknown streets in the Netherlands – 17th-century Dutch cottages, right on the dike, far away from the hustle and bustle of the inner city.
In Durgerdam, we will stop on a dike overlooking the IJmeer. Here we will talk about what has perhaps shaped the Netherlands more than anything else: the eternal struggle against water – then as now. Before we continue, we will take a separate coffee break with homemade apple pie – at a location along the route that suits you and the day.
Onward to Ransdorp – a village that hardly anyone knows, but where the history of Dutch independence and the role of religion can be experienced in a very small space.
In Zunderdorp, we immerse ourselves in the world of the Dutch agricultural sector – one of the most productive and innovative in the world, which still shapes the country and its landscape today.
At the end, we will visit the Krijtmolen 't Admiraal – a real, functioning windmill. We will explain why the windmill is not just a symbol, but the tool without which the Netherlands would not exist in its present form.
Afterwards, you'll return to Amsterdam – with a different perspective on the country you've just driven through. The tour is exclusively for your group, and as always, we are happy to adapt the pace, focus, and stops to your wishes.
