Meet your guide at the Zombeck Tower in Hasselbrook and begin your tour. Learn about the wartime history of Hamburg-Hamm and how the district grew before WWII. Hear how it was almost completely destroyed during the air raids beginning on July 25, 1943.
Discover why Zombeck towers were designed the way they were, with a special interior layout featuring a spiral and winding access to help people enter quickly. See the thick outer walls and a pointed roof intended to reduce risk from bombs.
Hear how the tower was closed and forgotten for a time after the war, later used in the 1950s, and is now being restored for public access.
